Mozart

I am Mozart, the Saint Bernard at the Sanctuary. This picture doesn't do me justice. If you come by, we can always see who is taller! I am big but I am really a gentle giant :). Guess what?! Flame

Say Hi to Flame, a 10-year old German Shepherd cruelly dumped outside NANAS recently. Lying in the middle of the road, he was too weak to walk. He could have been run over by the industrial lorries that drove by. Thankfully the driver of one of the lorries was kind enough to stop at NANAS to call for help. He seemed to have been used for breeding and he has very weak hind legs.He also has a heart problem. He was given medication and has been with NANAS for a few months now. He is slowly regaining his ability to walk but needs to be treated with medication. Flame has found a kind-hearted soul to sponsor him, but if you would like to contribute to his medical expenses, please let us know. Thank you so much in advance.

Postscript: Unfortunately, due to his age and illness, Flame has left us. Before he came to the Ark, he was abandoned as an old and a sick dog. At the Ark, in the last few months before his passing, he was loved, cared for and sheltered. You can see the happiness in his face in the picture. He even had the good karma to find a kind-hearted sponsor. So we let him go and know he is now in a happy place looking down on the Ark: another guardian angel of the Ark.

Hallo! I am Mr Happy, you can see why they call me that from my photo. I am a miniature pit bull terrier, but I am not like my reputation at all. I don't get into fights and I don't provoke any :). Anyway all the bad rep that has been pinned onto breeds like me and the rotweilers are because of human beings who use dogs for fights and gambling. I came to the Sanctuary with my brother Jack. We were both very sick. I made it but my brother did not. I miss him sometimes, but these days I am safe and I have a quiet and peaceful life here. I like the cats. They are peaceful and good to be with, so I opted to stay with them. Maybe they remind of Jack....

Boss

Boss is exactly like his name. He is huge and bossy. In the Sanctuary he lives in the old house and loves to hang out with his friends. You will be awed by his size and handsomeness when you meet him.

Wang Wang

Wang Wang (Mongrel)

Wang Wang was a victim of abuse. His previous owner poured boiling water onto his back and his legs. If you look carefully at the left side of the picture above, you can see the dark skin without hair. Hair will never grow back and the skin will stay that way.

But now, when you see Wang Wang at the Sanctuary, he is still a happy jolly fellow hanging out with his doggy friends. Wang Wang is safe now, and the scars inside his heart has healed, more wholly than the scars outside.

Ed (Mongrel)

Ed is an old timer at the Sanctuary. Ed has been with us a while. Even though he has only 3 legs, he is one of the most cheerful and sweet natured fellas around. He has learned to live with and does really well despite his missing limb. He is happy and bubbly ALL the time.

Ashley

Ashley (Grey tabby)

Hallo! My name is Ashley. You can see from my colour why I was given that name.

My story is shocking but not unusual. I came to the Sanctuary in a plastic bag, with my umbilical cord still intact! Yup. My mother, a stray cat, out of desperation for shelter when she had to give birth to me and my siblings, chose someone's shop. That person who walked in on us was disgusted. They chased my mother away and put the three of us into a plastic bag in the trash bin. Fortunately, someone rescued us and called Raymund. Raymund and the workers tried their best, but my sister did not make it.
My brother Oscar and I made it. When I was growing up, my health was weak, probably because of the state I was found in and I used to sneeze alot. But now, I am much better. I stay in the upper storey with Raymund and I love cuddling up. Do come visit me. I am looking for a sponsor :). I am one of the lucky ones who survived the horrors of strays on the streets. The Sanctuary needs monetary help to run sterilisation programmes and keep these sad things from happening. Will you help by sponsoring me?

Cow

Cow (Dalmatian)

I am a Dalmatian. I have been living in the Sanctuary for the last 4 years. I am deaf. I have other Dalmatian friends who live in the Sanctuary with me and they are deaf too. Did you know that deafness was accidentally bred into our breed when we first started out, and now no one knows which Dalmatian puppy will turn out deaf. You won't know even when you buy me cos the puppies at the petshops are too young. I was abandoned when my owner found out I was deaf. I don't know if I blame them. You need a lot of patience with deaf dogs. Cos we can't hear you when you call and we can't be sent to an obedience class. It's not that we want to not listen to you. We can't.

I am a little shy but once I get used to you, I will follow you around the Sanctuary when you come visit. I may not be able to hear you, but I can see you and feel you. I am named Cow because I am spotted and I have a pink nose, and that's what distinguishes me from the other Dalmatians you will meet in the Sanctuary. I am happy at the Sanctuary. Raymund and the people here have been good to me though I can't hear. I am not left out, and the other dogs don't bully me either. Unfortunately in my old age, I have an occasional allergy at the legs that will flare up. Will you be willing to sponsor my food and medicines?
